The Opera in the Gardens is a COVID-19 safe event and will operate in line with Government advice. Please do not attend the Opera in the Gardens if you:

  • are required to isolate or quarantine under laws aimed at reducing the spread of Covid-19 (and the event falls within the isolation/quarantine period);

  • are diagnosed as having Covid-19;

  • exhibit symptoms of Covid-19 (e.g. fever, chills or sweats, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose or loss of sense of smell) (‘Covid Symptoms’);

  • have been in close contact with anyone displaying Covid Symptoms; or

  • have been tested for Covid-19 and are awaiting the results (and the event falls within the period of awaiting test results).

There is always a risk of unfavourable weather conditions. Opera in The Gardens is an open-air event. The venue is completely uncovered. Opera in the Gardens  committee is committed to proceeding with the performance even in doubtful weather conditions.

The performance will proceed if there are light, intermittent showers. We therefore recommend that guests bring warm and rainproof clothing. Please note that although umbrellas can be brought to the site, out of consideration for other members of the audience, they cannot be used during the performance.

The performance will only be cancelled if the weather poses a threat to the safety of performers or the audience. Cancellation will occur in the event of heavy rain and strong winds as the comfort and safety of the audience and performers are paramount.

The event may be cancelled at 10.00am if the Bureau of Meteorology advises that extreme conditions will prevail. The performance may also be cancelled even after the show has commenced.

Replacement tickets may be issued at no extra charge. Refund of ticket due to change in personal circumstances not less than 72 hours prior to the event will be considered less any administration charges. Non attendance at the event will not entitle a ticket holder to a refund.

If the event is cancelled due to circumstances beyond the control of the organising committee the event may either be rescheduled or refund of ticket price less any unrecoverable expenses will be offered.
